About the Position

Burning Glass seeks a Front End Engineer to contribute to a new cutting edge development of our search and match product line.  A Front End engineer will contribute to implementation of our next-generation search engine while designing and implementing elegant web UI using JavaScript and related Web Technologies.  This is an opportunity to excel in rapid web UI prototyping and bringing it to the stakeholders and customers. In the fast paced agile environment this role is crucial to reflect product requirements and capabilities changes in user facing features like web dashboard, status and monitoring console.  The ideal candidate will have experience with writing cutting-edge, dynamic JavaScript-based applications using custom design or templates utilizing open source web packages. This position is full-time and based in our Boston office.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide expertise in modern web technologies and develop contemporary web applications
  • Prototype and present technology suggestions to the project leader
  • Ability to collaborate and follow the goals set by the team
  • Coordinate with and support QA on test planning, test case development and execution.
  • Assist in troubleshooting of search problems and repairing defects


  • At least 5 years of experience in JavaScript (including various architectural and testing frameworks)
  • Experience and familiarity with JAVA or .NET, HTML, and CSS is required
  • Experience with source control software (GIT, SVN)
  • Experience working in complex environment on large scale systems
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related discipline

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience writing server-side APIs, especially in Node.js
  • Familiarity with and understanding of one or more of the following: Angular.js, Backbone.js, React, Ember.js
  • Knowledge of jQuery, Bootstrap, ASP.NET, MVC framework
  • Experience with backend systems and databases is a plus
  • Ability to create unit/regression tests
